  • Overview

    Responsible for selecting and improving products that will drive growth and profitability of the Activewear and Outsourced categories. This is accomplished by close work and partnership with your assigned planner and supervised by the Sr. Manager of Merchandising.  An understanding of retail and marketplace trends, including customer demand, price, quality and availability are key requirements for success in this role.


    • Source, plan and procure products that deliver the overall Outlet Store Strategy for the categories you are responsible for.
    • Present product strategy and concepts to both internal (store core team) and other business partners to gain the most effective assortment for Outlet Stores.
    • Identify opportunities and drive change and process improvement in areas such as margin, price points, inventory levels and turn.
    • Responsible for the entire life cycle and productivity of styles within a category in partnership with assigned planner.
    • Collaborate with other merchants to ensure the collective assortment is cohesive and profitable for the Store Outlet Center.
    • Ensure on time development and delivery of all styles both HBI sourced and event merchandise.
    • Coordinate with Quality Assurance team as appropriate to ensure product adheres to product specifications. Bring to resolution to those products that do not comply with product standards.
    • Analyze consumer buying patterns and predict future trends.
    • Accountable to regularly review performance indicators, such as sales and margin.
    • Manage plans for stock levels. React to changes in demand and logistics.
    • Negotiate best value for stores by maintaining relationships with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers to meet demands and voids in the market.
    • Liaising with other partners within organization to ensure best output for category responsibilities.



    Minimum Education and Experience Required: 


    • BS/BA Degree required with 4-6 years of experience in retail management, marketing, or merchandise planning.
    • Strong computer skills are a requirement, with working knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
    • Planning & organizational skills are required
    • Cross-functional leadership skills; ability to manage complex projects effectively.
    • The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills as well as developed skills in apparel product knowledge and development.
    • Strong written and oral presentation skills, solid financial acumen.
    • Supervisory experience, interpersonal & communications skills.
    • Exhibit highest level of business ethics.
    • The successful candidate must thrive in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities.
