  • Overview

    We are seeking to hire a Senior Manager of Indirect Taxes who will report to the Director of Tax Compliance. This position will support the Hanesbrands global indirect tax team by developing processes around indirect tax administration and advising Hanesbrands on U.S. sales and use and international indirect tax impacts of proposed business initiatives. The Senior Manager of Indirect Taxes will manage indirect tax special projects, which will include internal research and analysis on a variety of complex international and state/local indirect tax issues in areas of tax law.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform legal research and analysis on a variety of state/local and international indirect tax issues and draft memoranda
    • Review sales and use tax, property tax, business license applications, census reporting forms, etc prepared by internal resources or third parties
    • Organize and provide timely replies to sales and use tax and VAT notices
    • Support analyst in sales and use tax audits and assist the different business areas with any non-US international indirect tax audits
    • Monitor, analyze and communicate relevant indirect tax law changes to the tax department
    • Partner with business leaders, tax, finance, treasury, legal, and external advisers on various business indirect tax questions and tax planning matters
    • Assist in the determination of sales/use and VAT tax consequences related to specific transactions (i.e. acquisitions, new locations)
    • Coordinate with third party providers of outsource/co-source solutions in place for sales and use, property tax, VAT, unclaimed property reporting/audits
    • Supporting/managing Staff, Special Projects/Other duties as needed

     

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education and Experience Required: 

     

    • Bachelor Degree Required 
    • CPA preferred
    • 8+ years of relevant experience in a corporate tax department, public accounting and /or law firm
    • Strong knowledge of general indirect state tax laws and concepts
    • VAT, GST, and sales and use tax audit experience a plus
    • Strong computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)
    • Experience with Vertex and SAP preferred
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Self-motivator and able to work independently
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, challenging environment
    • Work effectively with outside service providers
