  • Overview

    The Director, Marketing – Hanes serves as the brand marketing leader for HBI’s flagship Hanes brand.  This position is responsible for the development of brand strategy and marketing plans to support annual sales and profit growth as well as long-term brand equity goals for Hanes.  

     

    The Director Marketing – Hanes works with the Hanes innerwear and activewear product marketing teams to drive key brand platforms and cross-category initiatives.  This position works closely with internal teams (Product Marketing, B2C and Creative) and outside agencies to develop highly integrated marketing plans. With the rapid shift to online purchasing for apparel and the ability to leverage digital media to engage consumers with highly targeted messaging, this position requires expertise in digital and social media, and a growth mindset. 

     

    The position regularly interfaces with various business units, GM’s, Presidents, Group Presidents and the CEO while reporting to the Chief Branding Officer.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Provides marketing leadership and functional excellence to develop and drive annual and LRP brand marketing plans for Hanes, supporting brand sales, growth and equity objectives.
    • Responsible for marketing consistency across all Hanes product lines and consumer touchpoints, ensuring that product, packaging and consumer communications are aligned with overall brand positioning. 
    • In partnership with Hanes product marketing leads and HBI Consumer Insights team, leverage insights to identify innovation platform opportunities for Hanes product lines, following the HBI “Big Idea” process. 
    • Develop marketing strategies and integrated communication plans to drive trial and awareness of innovation platforms and increase brand preference and loyalty for Hanes. Coordinate marketing communications plans with B2C marketing team to maximize brand sales and ROI.
    • Manage influencer relationships, brand collaborations and strategic partnerships to support brand positioning and equity, and drive consumer engagement.
    • Identify brand extendibility opportunities and partner with SBU marketing organization and/or licensees to develop appropriate market entry strategies for new category initiatives.
    • Maintain a high-performance work environment and provide leadership throughout areas of responsibility to insure optimum internal and external partner relationships.  Manage and develop direct reports in brand marketing team to ensure development of strong brand marketing and leadership skills. 
    • Responsible for evaluation of Hanes marketing programs.   Effectively manage marketing investment to maximize ROI and optimize communications and marketing efficiency.  
    • Provide brand marketing updates to senior management, key stakeholders and HBI marketing and customer management groups as needed.  
    • Manage brand budgets including annual planning and monthly budget reporting

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education and Experience Required:

    • BA/BS degree required; MBA preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in brand marketing, with a minimum of 4 years in a managerial/decision making capacity.
    • Expertise in brand management, marketing communications (including traditional advertising/media, digital and social media, PR and influencer marketing) and e-commerce
    • Experience in agency management
    • Experience in leveraging consumer data to drive online sales growth
    • Demonstrated ability to work well under tight deadlines, while working effectively in a highly matrixed organization
    • The successful candidate will have outstanding leadership and communications skills, excellent interpersonal/people skills, strong analytical skills, impeccable business ethics and a track record of delivering business results.
    • Knowledge of apparel marketplace and retailer trends a plus
